I’ve got baby fever as my due date gets closer and closer! There is no comparison to the feeling of being able to welcome your baby into the world and into your family. And there is nothing that can match the feeling as you drive home from the hospital with your newborn. Newborn sessions are among my favorite because they capture the delicacy of a brand new life, and they show just how much joy a tiny human can bring into the world! Being a newborn photographer is such a privilege, since my clients get to share their first moments, days, and memories with their baby, with me!
This blog post is about a newborn session that I did for new parents Ashley and Tevin. They are originally from Palatine, IL but came to my Libertyville, IL studio for this newborn session. Their beautiful baby girl was due December 19, 2015, but came 8 days early on December 11, at 11:01 pm! She was born at 6 lbs 6 oz and with a full head of hair and the name Mayah Grace! It was wonderful that I got to see Ashley and Tevin again, since I had previously been their gender reveal photographer and maternity photographer, but their new addition made this session even more special.
Baby Mayah is such a sweetheart, she staying in all the poses that I put her in and barely cried throughout the whole session! Typically during newborn sessions, it takes a while to get a good group of photos because there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. A lot of times, the newborn will cry or get hungry or even cranky and mom and dad have to swoop in to the rescue. This session was so serene. There are even a couple of shots where baby Mayah has a smile on her face! Overall, this session went so great, and I can’t wait to see Mayah, Ashley and Tevin again!

Allison Anderson - Such a beautiful newborn session from your Libertyville IL studio. The light is beautiful! I really like how you used the neutral backgrounds but brought in colour with your newborn accessories. Red and pink look great with her skin complexion.
Christine D - I am impressed that you have your own baby on the way, yet you were able to do all the sitting, bending, and awkward movements a newborn session requires. I am sure Libertyville families will be bummed when you have a few weeks off to snuggle your own baby, but you will also get to play and experiment as you get beautiful portraits of your sweet one too, and that will only benefit your clients!
Kathy - What a sweet little baby girl! I love how the wide variety of shots you were able to get with this session! Newborn session can definitely be a challenge sometimes, but it looks like little Mayah was a dream baby and made you job easy(well, easier!) I know Mom and Dad have to be in love with these!
Jennifer Rittenberry - Being pregnant while photographing a newborn session cannot go without some sort of award attached to it! I know how difficult it is to perfectly pose a newborn session without that added stress on the body from being pregnant so I commend you. I know this Libertyville IL family is ecstatic with all of the beautiful images you have provided for them.
